Reproduction 1780s white cotton chemise gown over cotton petticoat with silk sash and floral hat worn Costume College 2025 Thursday night social.
1780s Chemise Gown
Sheer white cotton voile(?) over white linen, drawstring closure on front, with split skirt on front.
Pattern: Scroop Patterns #2003 The Amalia Jacket 1775-1795.
Modifications: Using this pattern as a base for a lining to build the chemise gown from.
- Size 40. Sleeves size 44 bicep 40 elbow 36 wrist.
- Shortened bodice 1/2”
- Shortened upper sleeve 1.5" and lower sleeve .75" for pattern base.
- Increased bottom front of side piece about 1.5”
- Cut off front dip
- Cut overlays extra wide. Gathered back pieces. Drawstring fronts.
- Gathered skirts and attached to bodice.
Petticoat
Seafoam green cotton 18th c pleated petticoat with ties on sides creating a pocket slit.
Pattern: Made similar to Burnley & Trowbridge instructions
Floral Headress
Light green dupioni silk over buckram and wire frame garnished with artificial flowers. Did not want to stay on my head.
