Reproduction 1890s peach silk satin ballgown worn to Costume College 2025 Saturday night gala. Remake/reuse of peach silk satin from previous 1660s gown.
Bodice
Peach silk satin with peach cotton poly lining and white twill lining and ivory silk and lace trim. Lining buttons up front with bodice hook and eye overtop.
Pattern: Truly Victorian TV490 1892 Ball Gown Bodice
Modifications: lots
- Made larger scoop neckline and removed top of sleeves for thin strap look.
- Added lace trim as sleeves
- Moved opening to front with lining buttoning up front.
- Added crossover front overlays, one with rows of ruffled ivory/cream silk.
- Shortened bodice hem for more of a late 1890s look.
- Added rows ruffled ivory/cream silk to center back.
Skirt
Peach silk satin with peach polyester cotton blend lining with ivory/cream silk dupioni bottom and embroidered synthetic lace.
Thinner waistband hook and eyes closure.
Pattern: McCall's M8231 1890s Blouse and Skirt
Modifications include:
- 31.5" waist Size 18 hips estimated because pattern only went up to size 12
- Shortened skirt hem 5?”
- Made short train
- Added hidden pockets to side-back seams
- Added ? horsehair blend fabric facing with poly/cotton lining
- Used one Hooke and eye at top waist and put placket on center back
- Added ivory/cream taffeta on bottom
- Added embroidered peach synthetic lace on bottom of peach section of skirt
Petticoat
White cotton petticoat
Pattern: Laughing Moon 102
- Size 18 waist and Size 24 hips.
- Shortened hem 3"
