Saloon Girl Meetup
|
Cancan, showgirls, performers, saloon girls, and their dapper gentlemen are invited to meetup at Fanny Ann's Saloon in Old Sacramento on Saturday afternoon March 14, 2009. Have a great dress and nowhere to go? Have a sparkle in your eye, but the only splits lately have been banana? No problem! No high kicks required here. Gussy yourself up in your gear, dust off your can can dress, meet up with other gals and fellows, admire costumes, and tell some tall tales over drinks and eats.
Where should saloon girls meet? A saloon, of course. Fanny Ann's Saloon is a favorite with bikers, Sacramentans, and other characters. Memorabilia and decor are everywhere. Crazy stairs. Mac didn't understand why we'd want to dress up as Victorian "hookers". Wheee, give him a wink.
If you arrive early and make a day of it, there's the Railroad Museum, Evangeline's, Village Hot Shop, Crocker Art Museum, and other shops within walking distance. Stop by and say hello to Joann at Sacramento City Dry Goods and stock up on your favorite costuming and ready-made goods in person.
(p.s. Never sit on the bar without permission. These photos were taken at Dickens Fair where the bar manager near Mad Sal's had an arrangement with the can can girls.)
Add yourself with your stage name to the the Evite list to receive any last minute notifications. You never know when there might be a street closure for leprachaun parade or something.
Don't have a stage name? Need help? Try this: take the name of your first pet and the city or state of your birth or favorite vacation spot.
Example: Fluffy Hotsprings
Is your favorite cast member joining the fun? Find out. Evite
Old Sacramento Living History has a General

There's also a Sacramento City and Gold Rush lecture at the Sacramento History Museum and
a Waterfront Shoot-out listed as TBA, but may be fun to visit when we know the times.
