Reproduction 1885 Red Striped Seaside Dress worn to Shadelands holiday tea December 2024. Bodice redone for trip to Port Townsend Victorian Heritage Festival April 2026.
Bodice
Red and white striped cotton bodice lined in cotton twill has white plastron with faux red cotton print vestie, white collar, black cotton velveteen collar, and 20 faux pearl shanked buttons up front. First version had hooks and eyes up front.
Pattern: Truly Victorian TV460 1885 Cuirass Bodice.
Modifications:
- Size G
- Shortened 3/4” torso.
- Shortened upper front bodice 1”
- Shortened upper back bodice 3/4”
- Shortened sleeves 1.5” upper and 1.5” lower arm
- Raised armhole .5”
- Taperedd from waist to Size H hips
- Moved darts
- Added plastron, folding back original bodice front
- Flatlined and did not add bagged lining
Overskirt
Red and white striped cotton overskirt pleated in wastband, hook and eye in back.
Pattern: Truly Victorian TV367
Underskirt
Red and white striped cotton underskirt supported by a lobster bustle.
Pattern: Truly Victorian TV261 1885 Four-Gore Underskirt.
Modifications:
- Shortened hem 2"
- Size I front
- Made waistband ~32.5" closed.
- Added pockets to back side seams.
- Opening on underskirt front left seam.
Completed: December 2024. Altered April 2026
