1930s Beach Pajamas
Reproduction 1930s beach pajamas made out of rayon print worn to Costume College 2024, Cars In the Park September 2024, and Crocker Art Museum ArtMix "Endless Summer" in August 2025. First wearing was hemmed too long with safety pins. Later wearings, hem was shortened and tacked up at seams and a few places.
Beach Pyjamas
Printed rayon with black rayon collar and back ties, buttons up back.
Pattern: Wearing History 3017 "Lounging at the Lido" 1930s Beach or Lounging Pyjamas and Eton Jacket.
Notes: Even though this buttons up the back because this is a historical pattern, the crotch is really, really low so can pull up to reach more of the buttons.
Worked really well in rayon, but need to hang up for several days before hemming because rayon will continue to stretch especially on the bias.
Store flat! So, it won't continue to stretch over time.
Modifications:
- Shortened torso length
- Adjusted where to sew on belt ties
- Did not use interfacing
Eton Jacket
Black rayon. Made twice. First time was too limp. Second time, bag lined it and it is a little too thick.
Pattern: Wearing History 3017 "Lounging at the Lido" 1930s Beach or Lounging Pyjamas and Eton Jacket.
