Red Cape Dress

Red cape dress made for Crocker Art Museum's ArtMix "Color Madness" in conjunction with Raul Gonzo's Color Madness photograph exhibition. Oh and some of were vampires that night as well, thus fangs.

Dress

Wool (blend?) with polyester lining sheath dress with built in cape, sleeveless version, has invisible zipper in dress back and cape back.
Pattern: Vogue V1982. Notes: Wool (blend) may be not as drapey as it should be. Cape shoulders seem wide, but look that way on pattern cover. Armholes may be too deep, but are mostly covered by arm and cape so don’t show. Had to hand sew the back neck edges because was too thick and breaking machine needles.
Modifications:

Size 18 bust, Size 20 waist, Size 22 hips
Shorten bodice 3"
Shorten View B hem 1.5" from bottom edge
Omit sleeves
Lengthen slit to original slit length

Pillbox Hat

Wool (blend)? with polyester lining pillbox hat with nylon net around crown and tied in double bow in back.
Pattern: Self drafted. Notes: Should have interfaced it as the wool wasn't quite as sturdy as thought. Pinned top of hat to small hair bun to keep in place.
